About the Class:
The objective of this class it to develop students critical thinking skills and prepare students to be well equipped for a the content and activities they will encounter in a high school social studies classroom. It is my sincere hope that students will not only learn the historical content of this class, but also develop an enjoyment and appreciation for the process of learning history.
Classroom Activities:
- The following are some activities which students can expect to do on a regular basis this year.
- Meaningful and responsible group learning.
- Addressing critical questions through reading and writing.
- Analyzing a variety of primary source documents.
- Weekly homework in their workbook.
- Developing note-taking skills.
- Developing more analytic and independent learning skills.
Student Behavior expectations:
Students are expected to be respectful, responsible, and proud learners and individuals. Students are expected to complete work on time and to the best of their ability. Although students are encouraged to work with each other and to actively ask questions, students are still expected to understand when it is time to work independently, share in groups, or listen respectfully.
